A message of peace and light from Latvia

In this episode, Building Bridges welcomes Sudden Lights from Latvia in the podcast studio, They talk to Sebi about theri song “Aijā”, their victory at Supernova 2023 and their plans for Liverpool. Unfortunately the band’s sound is not great in this episode – ee apologize for that and hope that you can still enjoy the interview!

Last spring, Sebi had the boys from Sudden Lights all to himself. He chatted with Andrejs, Kārlis, Mārtiņš, and Kārlis.

The band discussed how it felt to return to Latvia’s selection show Supernova some five years after coming second place in 2018, and how they have grown as a band since.

Sebi also chatted with the guys about how “Aijā” was created and what the song really means.

“… the song that we have [Aijā], we feel really strongly about it, and that’s why we decided that we need to try and go to Eurovision this year. We really believe that this message is important to us and the people of Latvia and also the people of Europe. We need to share this message of light, of peace to the world.”
– Andrejs Reinis Zitmanis

Sudden Lights shocked many Eurofans when they barely missed a spot in the Grand Final in Liverpool. “Aijā” came 11th in its Semi and extended Latvia’s non-qualification streak to six in a row, tying Georgia for the most consecutive participations without making the Grand Final.
