Susanne says Andorra is “closer than ever” to returning to Eurovision

While on their joint vacation in Barcelona, Sebi, Jan and Dave rented a car to drive up all the way to Andorra to meet Susanne Georgi, the country’s last Eurovision representative to date. Susanne talks about her Eurovision participation in 2009, her Stars Academy in Andorra la Vella and her fight to bring Andorra back to the Eurovision Song Contest.

While in Barcelona for Eurovision week, Sebi, Jan, and Dave drove up to Andorra la Vella to chat with Andorra’s last Eurovision artist — Susanne Georgi — in her Stars Academy studio.

As the years have passed since Andorra’s last participation in 2009, Susanne has become more vocal about the need for RTVA to rejoin the Eurovision family and put Andorra back on the map.

As many fans are aware, Andorran television claims to not have the funding to particpate in Eurovision anymore. So Susanne got to work:

” […] So okay, I’ll find the money. So I went out and I found the money to fund the whole project. And they were like yeah, but it wouldn’t look good if we took this from the private sector… You said you wanted the money, I got the money. What is the problem?! […] So it’s this endless, you know, this fight.”

Despite the frustrations, Susanne remains optimistic that Andorra will return, and she hasn’t given up trying to achieve her goal.

“But I definitely would like to make sure that we do the right things, because we need so much more money and promotion than a Germany or a Spain, we need to do double the work because people don’t know Andorra. So it’s going to be hard work.”

In August, RTVA confirmed that Andorra would not return to Eurovision in Malmö, so Susanne’s fight will continue for another year to make a return in 2025.

“La teva decisió (Get a Life)” remains Andorra’s last contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest. It came 15th in its Semi Final with just 8 points.
