Theodor Andrei talks and sings Eurovision

This Romanian teen knows his Eurovision!

Romania’s Theodor Andrei joins Building Bridges this week. Not only does he talk about his own Eurovision participation but he also comes across as a big and passionate Eurovision fan and sings his favorite entries to Dave and Sebi.

Before heading off to Liverpool, Sebi and Dave had the pleasure of speaking with Romania’s Eurovision 2023 hopeful, Theodor Andrei. 

Aged 18, Theodor was Romania’s youngest artist to ever represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest.

He told us about how music influenced him as he was growing up, how he got into the music industry, how he won Selecția Națională 2023, and what he was hoping to accomplish on stage in Liverpool.

Oh, and he also serenaded Sebi and Dave with some acapella versions of his favorite Eurovision songs!

“Singing an English song in Eurovision is basically like, it’s extremely hard to get out of the line and get that specific amount of exposure that everyone is looking forward to getting. Making a song in English is like most of the contestants do, and so I made the first part in Romanian, thinking that maybe this whole ‘D.G.T.’ thing can become sort of a signature style, and maybe something like a new expression all around the world.“

At Eurovision in Liverpool, Theodor’s song “D.G.T. (Off and On)” tied with San Marino for last place in Semi Final 2 with zero points, sadly making it Romania’s worst result in Eurovision history.
