Six months ahead of the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, France Télévisions surprises us all with the first official song for next year’s contest in Sweden.
The 34-year old pop singer and winner of The Voice of France, Slimane, will represent the Big 5 nation at the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. This is indeed big news, as Slimane is currently one of the most popular singers in French-speaking Europe, with three number-one albums in France, four number-one albums in Belgium and countless well-known hits.
Slimane was the fourth artist announced for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, but his song “Mon amour” was just released during the 20:00 News on France 2, making it the first official song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
He revealed in the interview with France 2 that the song was originally a love letter to the first person he ever loved, to make sure that the love was not one-sided. The first time he felt love, he felt his heart tremble like a re-birth. That’s why he asks in the song “Do you love me or not?”

Here is what the hosts of Building Bridges think of the first song for Eurovision 2024:
Jan: ★★★★★
The French Eurovision song for 2024 is a dramatic masterpiece with fantastic vocals and an amazing singer. It tells a heartbreaking story and manages to be a banger in its own unique way. Slimane’s performance of the song is flawless, making it a true standout. Wow, what a song!
Sebi: ★★★★☆
It seemed a bit overdramatic in the preview clip but will surely be an emotional moment on the big Eurovision stage. Amazing voice and beautiful song that will be especially loved by the juries if he delivers live. I liked it better after finding out the context of the song!
Dave: ★★★☆☆
Good ballad, but it will need something special to stand out in Malmö. I’m excited to see what it will be like live come May.
