As the Eurovision fever intensifies, the week of 7th-13th January brought forth exciting revelations, national selection updates, and a growing anticipation of the big showdown in May in Malmö, Sweden!
Ireland’s Eurosong Line-Up Revealed
Ireland’s journey to select its representative for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest kicked into high gear with the announcement of the six finalists for ‘The Late Late Eurosong Special.’
Set to air on 26th January at 22:35 CET on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player, the live selection process will be hosted by Patrick Kielty. The six hopefuls vying to carry the Irish flag in Malmö include:
- Erica Cody with “Love Me Like I Do”
- Ailsha with “Go Tobann”
- JyellowL feat. Toshín with “Judas”
- Isabella Kearney with “Let Me Be the Fire”
- Bambie Thug with “Doomsday Blue”
- Next In Line with “Love Like Us.”
Georgia’s International Idol Nutsa Buzaladze
From Tbilisi to Los Angeles to Malmö, Nutsa Buzaladze, an international songstress and former American Idol participant, is set to represent Georgia! Known for her energetic performances and success in various song contests, including a top 12 finish at American Idol in 2023, Nutsa is ready to impress the audiences.
Although details about the song she will perform in May remain undisclosed, artists interested in Eurovision are encouraged to submit their entries to eurovision@1tv.ge before 30th January.
Moldova’s Etapa Națională 2024 Finalists Revealed:
Moldova’s Etapa Națională 2024 began this week with live auditions at the TRM Studios in Chișinău. Out of 30 entries, 11 finalists emerged through a jury-based selection process:
- Natalia Barbu – “In the Middle”
- Valeria Pasha – “Anti-Princess”
- Iulia Teleucă – “Runaway”
- Cătălina Solomac – “Fever”
- O L – “No Time No Space”
- Viola Julea – “Light Up!”
- Reghina Alexandrina – “Contrasens” (Opposite)
- Victor Gulick – “Fever”
- Nicoleta Sava – “Bravo”
- Sasha Letty – “DNA”
- Y-Limit – “REVOLUTION”
Lithuania’s Eurovizija.lt Heat 1 results
Eurovizija.lt, kicked off with its first heat. Among the eight participating artists, Silvester Belt’s “Luktelk” and VB Gang’s “Kaboom!!!” secured spots in the final, based on a combination of jury and public votes. The competition will continue to unfold, leading up to Lithuania’s representative for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2024 Heat 1 qualifiers
Norway’s MGP 2024 kicked off on Saturday with Heat 1. After the audience voted on the NRK app, three acts emerged as finalists: Gothminister with “We Come Alive,” Ingrid Jasmin performing “Eya,” and Eurovision 2013 star, Margaret Berger, who qualified with “Oblivion.” The competition will progress with two more Heats culminating in the Grand Final on 3rd February.
