The Final of Germany’s Eurovision — Das Deutsche Finale is set for Friday, 16th February, and we recently had the pleasure to speak with one of the competing artists, who is already a fan-fav to win!

With Canadian roots, living and studying in the Netherlands, and competing to represent Germany at Eurovision, Bodine Monet is one of the most international artists we’ve spoken with all national final season!

Hear from Bodine Monet in our German national selection episode!

We asked her how and why she wanted to take part in the German national Eurovision selection this year:

“I’m studying in Haarlem in the Netherlands […] but I really want to do an exchange to Berlin to study music there, and focus on the German market more. I have just experienced so much love and support from Germany throughout my music career and I’m just really excited to base myself there and see what would come out of it, so I’m really happy and lucky that I got the chance to participate in the German finals, and I think they [ARD] saw my clear and passionate vision.”

To end the interview, we asked her a tough question. It’s no secret that Germany has been struggling at Eurovision since winning in 2010, so we asked her if she’s up to the challenge to get Germany a better result in 2024, and this was her answer:

“I think there’s been two women that won for Germany, so hopefully this year there’s a third! I just think [Tears Like Rain] is something different. I know that Germany always picks something different. I think they took a risk last year, and the two years before, and I do think they dare to be different, and that’s what I like. I’m different, I’m not the typical German girl, and I hope to make a change somehow for them.”
