Lithuania has some unfinished business at Eurovision. As the only Baltic nation remaining without a Contest win, they have something to prove. Lithuania has only finished Top 10 at Eurovision three times since first competing in 1994, perhaps that’s why broadcaster LRT this year scrapped the old show (Pabandom iš naujo) in favour of a new one this year, Eurovizija.LT!

In a resounding triumph, Silvester Belt is heading to Eurovision with his catchy hit Luktelk, defeating The Roop, who were Lithuania’s Eurovision entry for 2020 and 2021.

Tonight’s results came from a 50-50 televote-jury split, and was divided into two rounds of voting. After Round 1, the Top 3 moved on to a ‘Superfinal’:

  • Aistè — We Will Rule the World (6th place)
  • Žalvarinis — Gaudė vėjai (7th place)
  • Pluie de Comètes — Be Careful (9th place)
  • Silvester Belt — Luktelk
  • VB Gang — Kaboom!!! (4th place)
  • Il Senso — Time (8th place)
  • Monika Marija — Unlove You Starting Tomorrow (5th place)
  • Shower — Impossible
  • Queens of Roses — Walk Through Fire (10th place)
  • The Roop — Simple Joy

After a performance of Hollow by last week’s winner Dons from neighbouring Latvia and another of Stay by Monika Linkytė, each act performed a reprise for the Superfinal. The results were:

  • Silvester Belt — Luktelk (16,688 votes)
  • Shower — Impossible (9,066 votes)
  • The Roop — Simple Joy (6,884 votes)

Here is what the hosts of Building Bridges think of Luktelk — Lithuania’s song for Eurovision 2024:

Jan: ★★★★★

I love this track and I have to say that I enjoed since the day one that I’ve heard it for the first time – it’s infectious, it has a good rhythm and it gets you to different dimension – I wish him good luck!

Sebi: ★★★★★

Thank you Lithuania! I’m so glad that you are finally confident enough to use your beautiful language at Eurovision. This song is both catchy and modern and at the same time brings something new to the Eurovision stage, that many fans wouldn’t expect from Lithuania. Keep up, Lithuania. You’re on an amazing path!

Dave: ★★★★☆

Since I first heard ‘Luktelk’, I knew it was winning in Lithuania this year. It’s so catchy and it’s so easy to listen to on repeat, especially the rave the song turns into at the end. Silvester Belt is definitely bringing the party to Malmö this year!

Are you happy with Lithuania’s choice? Silvester Belt will compete in the first half of Semi Final 1 in Malmö!
