Today, Cyprus presented its entry for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest – it’s “Liar,” performed by the talented 17-year-old Silia Kapsis. Crafted by the esteemed Dimitris Kontopoulos, this year’s Cypriot entry promises to impress audiences.
Accompanied by two dancers and dressed in exquisite gold attire designed by a prominent Greek fashion artist, Silia Kapsis impressed in the music video for Liar, which she filmed in a prestigious Limassol hotel. The music video premiered on RIK this afternoon and will be published on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel at 18:00 CET.
Here is what we think about the Cypriot entry for Malmö:
Jan: ★★★★☆
Get ready to dance, Cyprus has unleashed a pop anthem that’s destined to dominate the Eurovision stage. The chosen entry for this year’s contest is a blend of catchy hooks, energetic beats, and a touch of Mediterranean flair. As a big pop fan, I couldn’t be more thrilled with what Cyprus has brought to the table
Sebi: ★★☆☆☆
This is a perfectly decent pop song and I think that Silia is a very charismatic performer. However, I am getting a bit bored of the amount of foreign produced, interchangeable pop songs, that Cyprus has sent to Eurovision lately. This one would be a good opener for the first semi-final, but other than that, I can’t see it standing out among the other acts.
Dave: ★★★★☆
This is our big girl pop anthem for 2024! I suspect the video is giving us a sneak peak at the choreography we’ll see at Eurovision. Silia has clearly been working on getting this perfect for quite some time and all that hard work has paid off big time with ‘Liar’!
