Söngvakeppnin 2024, the Icelandic national final for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, has just come to an end. After an exciting evening with 5 finalists, Hera Björk has been crowned as the winner with her bubbly pop song Scared Of Heights. Therefore, Hera has won the first right to represent Iceland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
She was able to win the Superfinal over the bookies’ favourite to win, Bashar Murad and his song Wild West.
Here is what we think about the winner of Söngvakeppnin 2024:
Jan: ★★★★★
I love it. Hera was my first choice when I heard the song. I love it, it’s such a good vibe song and I can’t wait to dance to it in Malmö.
Sebi: ★★★☆☆
While I am very happy to see Hera back on the Eurovision stage, I am not really sure if this is going to be her year. Semi Final 1 already has a lot of very similar uptempo pop songs, which will give her a hard time to stand out. Still, this is overall a very decent and jolly entry for Iceland.
Dave: ★★★★☆
I can’t believe Hera is heading back to Eurovision! This is wonderful news! I do prefer the song in Icelandic, but in any language, this beat slaps and Hera will have us all up and dancing in Malmö very soon!
We had a nice chat with Hera ahead of the semi-final in Iceland. Check out our interview here:
