After a long wait and many speculations, the Australian entry for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö has finally been revealed. Electric Fields will represent the nation with “One Mikali (One Blood)“.
Australia’s mesmerizing duo, Electric Fields, has been chosen to represent Australia at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden. The announcement, made on Tuesday 5 March by SBS, introduces a Eurovision entry titled One Milkali (One Blood), which integrates Yankunytjatjara, an Aboriginal language of the Anangu peoples.
Electric Fields, comprised of Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross, are no strangers to the Eurovision stage, having narrowly missed the top spot in SBS’ 2019 national selection show, Eurovision – Australia Decides, with their memorable track 2000 And Whatever.
Their return to Eurovision promises a fusion of traditional Aboriginal culture with a contemporary musical style ranging from soulful pop to expansive electronica.
We are buzzed with euphoria at our chance to share this music with the world. Our music comes from the deepest place in both of us, and Eurovision is the most exciting opportunity to bring together our cultures and share the joy of our global connection.

SBS Head of Entertainment, Emily Griggs, expressed excitement about Electric Fields’ genre-defying music, describing their entry as “an uplifting dance anthem” that blends catchy beats with a beautiful sentiment.
She added:
With their unparalleled passion and infectious energy, SBS is proud to have Electric Fields amplify Australian voices and leave audiences yearning for more

At home, SBS’s exclusive coverage of Eurovision will feature the dynamic duo of music enthusiast Myf Warhurst and comedian Joel Creasey. Building on the success of their production in 2023, which won the AACTA Award for Best Entertainment Program, SBS and Blink TV are gearing up for Australia’s 9th consecutive year of participation in the iconic event.
Here is what we think about the Australian entry for Malmö:
Jan: ★★★★☆
Finally – Electric Fields are heading to Eurovision stage. I loved 2000 and Whatever and I’m on the way of loving this one as much as I loved their Australia Decides entry.
Sebi: ★★★☆☆
I was wondering when Australia would finally send them. There’s a lot of potential here, it’s catchy and we already know that they are great live performers. However, I wish the song would slap a bit more. “2000 and Whatever” was such a banger and this song feels like the softer version of it.
Dave: ★★★☆☆
Zaachariaha and Michael have put together a solid effort here, and I’m sure it will be great live. To be truthful, I enjoy their 2019 entry more, but I’m sure “One Milkali” will come alive on stage, as they have dreamt of this moment for so long. It’s such a catchy song with an amazing message!
