The final of Festival da Canção 2024 has come to an end and the Portuguese audience has chosen to be represented by Iolanda at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, with the song “Grito“.
With the ending of Festival da Canção 2024, we not only conclude Portugal’s selection process, but also the national final season of Eurovision 2024. With Iolanda being selected, we now know all the 37 artists, which are heading to Malmö this May.
Like most of the other national finals this season, Portugal has selected its winner through a combination of jury and televotes. In the end, Iolanda impressed both parties the most, with her stunning performance of “Grito”.
Here is what we think about the Portuguese entry for Malmö:
Jan: ★★★★☆
Iolanda blends of traditional Portuguese sounds with a modern twist. I’m sure it will captivate audiences across Europe. Perfect vocals, stirring melodies, and a contemporary flair make Grito a must-listen for all Eurovision fans!
Sebi: ★★★★★
This was the biggest standout in Festival da Canção from the beginning. It’s a worldclass song and was only elevated by a beautiful live performance. I had chills all the way through!
Dave: ★★☆☆☆
Grito is a vibrant Portuguese gem with a modern edge sure to captivate most Eurovision fans. It’s standout hit for the Contest, with nothing else in the compeition sounding anything like Iolansa this year.
