Armenian broadcaster AMPTV has dropped the video for LADAVINA‘s entry for Malmö. The song Jako marks Armenia’s 16th Eurovision participation and the video was released on Eurovision’s YouTube channel on Wednesday.

The duo formed in 2019 in Lille, France and is made up of singer Jaklin Baghdasaryan and multi-instrumentalist Louis Thomas. Their music is tough to categorize, as they fuze influences from music from all corners of the globe. An article by Radar Agency in 2022 described it as a misture of “[…] traditional songs from Armenia, Russia and the Balkans, and [with] influences from their trips in Latin America, Africa and Reunion Island.”

LADAVINA’s varied musical influences are on display in ‘Shakar’ from 2023.

Here is what we think about the Armenian entry for Malmö:

Jan: ★★★★☆

The Armenian Eurovision song blends traditional and modern elements. It has a contagious catchiness and a very memorable melody.

Sebi: ★★★★☆

Jako is a cheeky and bubbly song and it is impossible to sit still while listening to it. I love everything about it. The ethnic influences, the native language. Everybody will remember this!

Dave: ★★★☆☆

This just might be the song that blends ethnic vibes the best into any of the Eurovision songs this year. I would have expected nothing less from LADANIVA, this song gives me chills!
