The final of Montesong 2024 has just come to an end and the Montenegrin audience and jury has chosen to be represented by NeonoeN at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, with the song “Clickbait“.

A total of 16 acts competed to wave Montenegro’s flag at Eurovision in that country’s first national final since 2019. Montenegro last competed in 2022 with Vladana, chosen internally.
After the juries had voted, Nina was the clear favourite. The points were then converted into ‘Eurovision style’ for the top 10 songs, and combined with the public vote.

While Baryak won the televote, it was not enough to win, as NeonoeN came second with the jury and the public vote, enough for 20 points overall, and the ticket to Basel! Here is the final scoreboard:

We would also like to offer our congratulations to Đurđa who finished fourth place. We had the pleasure to speak with her before her live performance, and you can check out that interview here.
Here is what we think about the Montenegrin entry for Basel:
Jan: ★★★☆☆
With its smooth beats and clever lyrics, Clickbait captures the feeling of scrolling through social media. A track that feels both personal and current.
Sebi: ★★★☆☆
There’s something effortlessly cool about Clickbait. The rhythm flows so naturally, and the lyrics hit close to home without feeling forced. It takes a couple of listens, but once you get it, you get it!
Dave: ★★☆☆☆
NeonoeN’s Clickbait pulls you in with its laid-back vibe and reflective lyrics. I wonder what the rest of Europe will think of it. I’m not sure it will be Montenegro’s year, but I’m glad they are back and hope they come back next year!
