Today on Building Bridges, Jan had the pleasure of chatting with the lovely Grace, who is set to compete in Eurosong 2025 on 1st February in Belgium!
Known for her passion and authenticity, she gained recognition as the winner of The Voice of Flanders in 2021, a pivotal moment that launched her career.
Grace’s music blends her Congolese heritage with contemporary styles, creating a unique sound that resonates with audiences. Through her artistry, she seeks to inspire others, celebrate cultural diversity, and share her journey of resilience and joy on an international stage.
As we wait to hear the songs that are competing to represent Belgium at Eurovision 2025, Jan asked Grace what she can reveal about the musical direction of her entry:
“Life is already so hard, so don’t take things too seriously and try to smile, to laugh a little bit about the things that you’re going through, even though it’s hard. It will get better—just shake the pain away.”
— Grace Khuabi
Grace is very proud of her Congolese heritage, and takes the role of her culture very seriously in her music. The opportunity to perform in front of Belgium at Eurosong is not lost on her:
“I’m proud to be Congolese and proud to be a Congolese who lives in Belgium. It’s important for me to include my culture in my music because that’s who I am. […] “There aren’t a lot of girls or women who look like me that receive the same opportunities, so I’m happy to be representation for others. I want them to see me and think, ‘I can do it too.’”
— Grace Khuabi
Grace went on to describe her potentially winning Eurosong as “a big deal” for the Congolese community in Belgium. We will find out how Grace does on 1st February when a winner of Eurosong 2025 will be proclamed!
