This afternoon, the Finnish broadcaster YLE announced that the band One Morning Left will no longer be a part of the Finnish pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Uuden Musikiin Kilpailu (UMK).

The band’s eccentric song “Puppy” was one of the stand-outs at this year’s national final season and was handled as one of the favorites to win UMK 2025 and represent Finland at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel.

Anssi Autio, executive producer of UMK 2025 gave a statement in a press release this afternoon:

“Unfortunately, One Morning Left will not be seen in this year’s UMK, as the band has not fully complied with the competition’s rules. The decision also involved the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest, set by the EBU, which clearly state that such a rule violation is an unequivocal obstacle to Eurovision representation.”
