The Austrian broadcaster ORF just announced which act has been selected to represent the country at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel.
It is the opera singer Johannes Pietsch, also known as JJ who convinced the internal judges with his song “Wasted Love“. The 23 year old soprano singer does not lack stage experience, despite his young age. He made it to the finals of the Austrian casting show Starmania, which has produced many Eurovision stars in the past (including Conchita Wurst, Nadine Beiler or Teya & Salena) and even reached the knock-out rounds in the UK version of The Voice, where he was in the team of American rapper will.i.am.
Johannes’ song “Wasted Love” is set to be released in March. It will blend modern and classical music.
