Our podcast is very pleased to share our first-ever full-feature interview with an artist hoping to represent Poland at Eurovision โ€” and that first artist is the fantastic Sonia Maselik!

Sonia is a well-known award-winning pop singer, composer and lyricist living in Poland. Her biggest hit so far came in 2020 when she released Nie mรณw nic nikomu. The video for that song just surpassed one million views on YouTube!

Last month, Sonia was chosen to compete in the Polish Eurovision final for the first time in her career, and she will do so with her new release Rumours.

While 2025 will mark Sonia’s first appearance in a televised Polish Eurovision selection, it is not the first time she has tried to represent her country:

“I’ve been thinking about Eurovision, not just for a year, but that thought was with me for about a couple of years. And I’ve been trying like four timesโ€ฆ However, I think that now I’m in a good place, and I’ve got a good song because I like the vibe of the song ‘Rumors.’โ€

Rumours is a very personal song for Sonia. In the past, she has dealt with public criticism, rumors, and negative judgments. Despite this, her song emphasizes the importance of kindness and not making assumptions about others:

“The message is very simple: do not spread information that you are not sure of. People sometimes judge based on things they hear or read without knowing the truth. Everything I’ve achieved is through hard work, and it’s important to remind others not to believe everything they hear.”

Sonia will perform Rumours live during the Polish national Eurovision selection Wielki finaล‚ polskich kwalifikacji on the evening of Friday, 14th February on TVP, along with nine other artists in the competition this year.

Until then, be sure and check out the full interview with Sonia (above) to discover more about the personal story that led to the creation of Rumours, how Sonia hopes to stage her song in the final, and what her yearly Eurovision traditions look like.
