Welcome to our weekly post in an effort to keep you up-to-date on anything and everything *Eurovision* you might have missed in the last 7 days! Spoliers ahead!
🇳🇴 🏆 The Stig Karlsen era has come to an end Norway
Melodi Grand Prix has come and gone, and with no Semi Finals this year, everything was riding on the Final. Not only did Lighter by Klye Alessandro dominate the jury vote (getting 118 of a possible 120 points), but he also won the televote with 189 points, a full 54 points ahead of second place Bobbysocks!
Notably, this was the last MGP organized by Stig Karlsen, Norway’s outspoken Head of Delegation at Eurovision for over 10 years.
Check out Kyle’s performance AND our chat with him just before MGP!
🇪🇪 🏆 Estonia to serve espresso in Basel
With Käärijä in the Green Room next to Eurofan-favourite Tommy Cash, there was little doubt as to who would win Eesti Laul this year! In a field of 16 acts, just three made it to the Superfinal where Espresso macchiato beat out An-Marlen’s Külm and Andrei Zevakin feat. Karita’s Ma ei tea sind.
🇱🇹 🏆 Lithuania completes the Baltic line-up for Basel
Twelve acts battled it out in the final of EUROVIZIJA.LT after five long weeks of Semi Finals. A combination of a jury (50%) and televote (50%) chose three songs to proceed to a Superfinal, where the Lithuanian public had 100% of the vote. The three Superfinalists were:
- Winner: Katarsis – Tavo akys
- 2ⁿᵈ place – Lion Ceccah – Drobė
- 3ʳᵈ place – Liepa – Ar mylėtum?
In the end, Katarsis fended off Liepa and Lion Ceccah for the right to represent Lithuania in Basel with Tavo akys!
🇮🇹 Sanremo 75 has come to a spectacular end
After over 25 hours of television since Tuesday, the 75ᵗʰ Festival di Sanremo has ended in Italy, BUT we await confirmation on Italy’s participation for Basel.
This is because Sanremo is not officially a national final for Eurovision, and the winner has the first right of refusal to go to Eurovision. That decision is truly an after thought, and typically gets answered in the days after the Finalissima on the Ligurian coast.
The final ranking from 29th to 6th place was revealed, leaving a Superfinal of five songs. Voting reopened and was added to the previous scores. In the end, the Top 5 looked like this:
- Olly – Balorda nostalgia
- Lucio Corsi – Volevo essere un duro
- Brunori Sas – L’albero delle noci
- Fedez – Battito
- Simone Cristicchi – Quando sarai piccola
🇮🇸 Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin Final is set

- Dagur Sig – Flugdrekar

Heat 3 in Sweden saw another six acts compete, with two spots in the Final up for grabs, and one act that could still qualify via a special final qualification round after Heat 5 on 1ˢᵗ March.
This year, points were not shown on screen, but the final result was:

🇵🇱 🏆 Poland makes history
On Friday night, a 10 song final in Warsaw chose the song Gaja performed by Justyna Steczkowska the winner. Justyna is heading back to Eurovision 30 years after she last represented Poland, finishing in 18ᵗʰ place with Sama in Dublin in 1995.
