Known globally for her multifaceted career as a model, actress, TV host, and entrepreneur, Victoria Silvstedt is now taking center stage in Sweden’s biggest musical competition with her debut Melfest entry Love It!

In an exclusive interview with Building Bridges, Victoria shared her enthusiasm for stepping into the Melodifestivalen spotlight. Chatting with us all the way from the Caribbean islands, she revealed:

“This is my first time competing in Melodifestivalen. When I heard the song ‘Love It’ and recorded it, I just felt like, wow, this is so me! It represents my personality completely — fun, glamorous, and energetic.”

— Victoria Silvstedt

Victoria’s journey to Melodifestivalen is a testament to her mantra of embracing opportunities and challenges. From her modeling debut in Paris to gracing Hollywood films and hosting major TV shows like Wheel of Fortune in both France and Italy, she has continually reinvented herself. For Victoria, music was always a passion, but never a planned career path.

“Growing up in my village in northern Sweden, I loved music, singing in school and for special events like Santa Lucia. But I never thought I’d pursue it professionally.”

Her 1999 album Girl on the Run was a surprise addition to her portfolio, reflecting her love for music and the momentum of her fame.

Now, more than two decades later, her love for performing has brought her full circle.

“After seeing incredible performances like Loreen’s Euphoria at Eurovision, I’ve always admired how big and bold this stage can be. It’s also fun to do something special in my home country for my family and friends. Melodifestivalen is a massive production, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”

Victoria says her Melodifestivalen debut is all about timing and taking the leap.

“2025 feels like the right year. When the song came to me, I thought, why not? I’ll try. What do I have to lose?”

Her entry, Love It! promises to be a reflection of her vibrant personality. Although she’s keeping performance details under wraps, she hinted at something glamorous and fun.

“I want to bring joy and energy to the TV screens.”

Victoria’s career has spanned continents, languages, and industries. She credits her resilience and willingness to take risks for her success.

“I’ve always believed in never giving up. My career has had ups and downs, but every opportunity has taught me something new.”

When asked about her Eurovision memories, she also cited some iconic moments.

“For Sweden, of course, ABBA’s Waterloo and Loreen’s Euphoria are unforgettable. Loreen is such an inspiration — I absolutely love her!”
