Ever since Nemo won the 68th Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland, there have been many speculations about Céline Dion having any involvement in the 69th edition of the contest, hosted in Switzerland.

The Canadian superstar has won the Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland in 1988 and has become one of the most famous singers in the world ever since. SRG and the EBU have made big efforts to make Céline Dion appear at the Eurovision Song Contest this May, but due to her severe illness, it is unclear whether the singer would be able to make the journey to Basel.

SRG has now announced that they are in touch with Céline Dion about a possible appearance in Basel and that the singer seems to be interested in such a collaboration, but that her appearance is highly deepending on her health status. Reto Peritz and Moritz Stadler, the executive producers of SRG gave the following statement:

We will only know a few weeks ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest, if she (Céline) feels fit enough for it

The last time Céline Dion was actively a part of Eurovision was in 1997, when she left a video message to the current contestants and talked about her time in Dublin in 1988.
