The Austrian entry for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest has finally been released. The 23-year-old opera tenor from Vienna, Johannes Pietsch (also known as JJ), has released his song “Wasted Love”.
JJ filmed his music video, which has just premiered on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel, in the state opera of Vienna.
Austria will perform in the first half of the second semi-final on Thursday, May 15th.
Despite of his young age, JJ does not lack any stage experience. He made it to the finals of the Austrian casting show Starmania, which has produced many Eurovision stars in the past (including Conchita Wurst, Nadine Beiler or Teya & Salena) and even reached the knock-out rounds in the UK version of The Voice, where he was in the team of American rapper will.i.am. The last few years he has been professionally working as a tenor in the Vienna state opera, where he also shot the video for his Eurovision entry.
