In recent months, speculation about Céline Dion’s potential involvement in Eurovision 2025 has been at an all-time high. Following Switzerland’s victory with Nemo last year, fans and organizers alike hoped for the return of the Canadian superstar, who famously won the contest for Switzerland in 1988 with Ne partez pas sans moi. However, it now appears that Dion will not be making an appearance at the 69th edition of the contest, set to take place in Basel this May.

According to Swiss newspaper Le Matin, Céline Dion has declined the invitation due to her ongoing health struggles. Despite significant efforts from Swiss broadcaster SRG and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to bring her back to the Eurovision stage, the singer has reportedly decided that traveling to Basel would be too much of a challenge given her current condition.

Instead, Eurovision organizers are reportedly in discussions with another major star from the Contest’s recent history: Damiano David, the frontman of Måneskin.

The Italian rock band won Eurovision 2021 with Zitti e buoni, catapulting them to international fame. David, who has since launched a solo career, has been in talks with the organizers since the beginning of the year, Le Matin reports. His debut solo album is expected to be released shortly after Eurovision, making his potential guest appearance a perfect promotional opportunity.

David himself has previously expressed his desire to return to Eurovision as a guest, and this could be the ideal occasion. With his recent hit Born With a Broken Heart climbing the charts, his presence at the Contest would certainly add to the excitement of Eurovision 2025.

While fans may be disappointed by Céline Dion’s absence, the prospect of Damiano David performing at the event is generating a new wave of anticipation. With Eurovision just around the corner, all eyes will be on the organizers for an official confirmation.
