Again, no, we’re not kidding…

This is a follow-up to a story we brought you over two weeks ago. At that time, a group of sweet, elderly ladies in an Italian nursing home had gone viral for dancing and singing to Estonia’s 2025 Eurovision song, Espresso macchiato.

Tommy Cash left a message on the TikTok reading “My dancers for Eurovision”. Most thought it was a sweet gesture, however on tonight’s La vita in diretta on Rai, it was confirmed that five of the nonnine (as they are called) will be heading to Basel to join Tommy on stage!

The Rai reporter pointed out that the only problem is that Tommy can only bring five of them on stage with him, when the group has over a dozen members. The reporter interviewed one of the women, who argued why she should be picked:

“I want to go with Tommy Cash because it requires getting on a plane, and that’s something I’ve never done in my life!”

— Nonna Nina

Perhaps this decision on the part of Tommy Cash will quell the voices of those Italians who have taken offense to Tommy Cash’s song, pointing out it mocks several stereotypes about Italians, while others have even expressed the need to ban it from Eurovision altogether. However, Tommy insists this isn’t the case, and in March he appeared on Italian television to perform Espresso macchiato and make the case for why he loves Italy.
