The wait is finally over – Vienna has been revealed as the Host City of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest.
During a live reveal this morning, the EBU and ORF announced that Austria’s capital will welcome the Eurovision community back in May 2026. The Grand Final is scheduled for Saturday, 16 May at Wiener Stadthalle, with Semi-Finals on Tuesday, 12 May and Thursday, 14 May.
This will be Vienna’s third time hosting Eurovision. The city first staged the contest in 1967 following Udo Jürgens’ iconic win with “Merci Chérie”, and then again in 2015 after Conchita Wurst’s triumph. Now, a decade later, it will once more welcome delegations, artists, and fans for a special anniversary edition.
The decision comes after JJ’s victory in Basel earlier this year with his dramatic ballad “Wasted Love”, Austria’s third win overall. ORF and the EBU highlighted Vienna’s strong infrastructure, proven event experience, and its status as one of Europe’s most musical cities as key factors in the selection process.
Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, praised the choice:
Vienna’s reputation as one of the most musical cities in the world, and its location in the heart of Europe, makes it the perfect Host City for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest.

Vienna’s Mayor Michael Ludwig emphasized accessibility, promising a wide range of free public events alongside the main shows. Tourism Director Norbert Kettner noted the city’s capacity of over 80,000 hotel beds and excellent transport links, assuring fans that Vienna is ready to host visitors from across the continent.
With Eurovision returning to Wiener Stadthalle and Austria preparing for another year in the spotlight, fans can look forward to a spectacular celebration in May 2026. Further details about tickets, accompanying events, and the Eurovision Village will be revealed in the coming months.
