Montenegro is back! The nation’s representative for Eurovision 2026 will be chosen through Montesong 2025, the Balkan nation’s national selection process for a second straight year.
Approved by the Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG) Council, the official rulebook lays out the plan. A public call for compositions will be announced soon, and will open for 30 to 60 days.
Artists from abroad can compose songs, but only Montenegrin citizens can perform. In keeping with traditional Eurovision rules, entries must be original, popular tunes, no longer than three minutes, and must not have been published before September 1, 2025.
A Selection Committee will vet all submissions, choosing up to 16 for the live show. Each song will be judged on composition, lyrics, and production potential.
The big twist this year? If no submissions are good enough, Montenegro will simply pick an entry internally! In this high-stakes contest, mediocrity is simply not an option!
The winning artist will be determined by a combination of jury and public SMS votes. The lucky winner will then hand over all performance and broadcast rights to RTCG and must participate in all promotional activities. Montenegro’s journey to the big stage in Vienna has officially begun!
In May, Montnegro returned to Eurovision after missing two Contests with the artist Nina Žižić, which marked her second Eurovision as a lead vocalist. Sadly, luck was not on her side as Dobrodošli came last in its Semi Final.
