An interview so good, we had to record it twice!

The winners of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023, The Busker, visited the Building Bridges studio and chatted with Dave and Jan. Just when the two hosts thought that everything went well, they realised that the audio of the Maltese boys was missing. Can Building Bridges fix this situation? Find out what The Busker told us about Dance (Our Own Party) and their preparations for Liverpool in this episode.

“We were not so social media conscious back then. Our idea of a post was posing and lifting Sean’s beagle over our heads and saying we were the underdogs!”

– Dav.Jr

In March of 2023 we had the pleasure to chat twice with Dav.Jr, Jean Paul, and Sean – the boys from The Busker.

Due to what we’ll call technical problems (and not incompetence) our first interview deleted itself immediately after we said Addio to the boys.

The great sports that they are, they understood and made some time for us to do the interview all over again.

The trio chatted about how the band formed, how tense it was waiting for the votes at MESC, their preparations for Liverpool, and how their lives have changed since becoming national celebrities.

“It’s nice to go have a coffee and people say ‘Hey, congratulations, we voted for you!’ Everyone keeps insisting that it was everyone’s victory, and that’s really special […] The win on a personal level was ours, but on a greater level it was the whole country’s because everyone felt justified in the win.”

– Sean
Despite their fun and energetic performance in Liverpool, The Busker came last in Semi Final 1, receiving just 2 points from Israel and 1 point from ‘The Rest of the World’, extending Malta’s non-qualification streak to two years.
