We are really looking forward to sharing the chat we just had with Artūrs Šingirejs from Latvia. You might know him better by his stage name of Dons. Until then, we can share this sneak peek with you!
We were asking Dons if he had already filmed his Eurovision postcard. If you’re new to Eurovision, those are the little clips that appear just before each performance, and often give us a little glimpse at the artists in their home countries.
Dons gave us some clues as to how they are being filmed this year, and what they might look like:
“Yes, we have submitted all the material that they [SVT] asked for. They asked for like 20 minutes of material. So they’re going to do the postcard in social media style, something like that. So yeah, we have done that [already].”

Given Dons’ love of basketball, we inquired if we might see him shooting some hoops in his postcard, to which he answered:
“I don’t know if [SVT] will take that, but if you go on my TikTok or Instagram, there is a video which I created together with the Latvian team. And so how we are getting ready for Eurovision as well. I think that there are going to be more videos to come with the basketball vibe.”

It’s unclear by “Latvian team” if he meant his Eurovision team or the actual Latvian basketball team — but — during the interview, you can see Dons is showing off a shiny new FIBA basketball that is autographed!
The choice to give the postcards a social media motif comes as an interesting development, as TikTok did not renew its media partnership with the Eurovision Song Contest for the 2024 edition.
