This week, we had a lively chat with Swiss singer/rapper/musician Nemo. Even though Nemo now lives and works out of Berlin, they are set to represent their home nation of Switzerland at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest next month!

In this episode, Sebi and Dave chat with the current first place in the betting odds, which is Nemo from Switzerland. Nemo opened up about their song The Code and gave the boys an exclusive insight into the making of the song’s music video. Furthermore, Nemo revealed which Swiss city should host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2025, in case Switzerland actually wins.

The Code was selected internally as Nemo’s song for Malmö. It is their highest-charting song on the Swiss Hitparade since the release of Du in 2017.

Du peaked at 4th on the Swiss Hitparade when Nemo was just 18 years old!

Nemo’s Eurovision hit The Code is number 1 in the betting odds at time of publication, and has climbed to 22nd on the Swiss Hitparade. It’s been a fan-favourite since the release of the music video, so we asked Nemo about the music video, and got an exclusive story:

“So, the original video was supposed to be in an airplane actually […] And then we had the idea of like being stuck in a loop like in an airplane and every time I walk through the curtains you know like through the next kind of class then I’m like I’m being taken back to the curtains behind and I’m like
I have wear a different outfit and I’m like I can’t get out of this loop. […] And we got the confirmation everything was ready to go into that airplane. Five days before the shoots they got a message from the museum […] we can’t do it unfortunately, like there’s some rules, so we have to cancel. […] So they like scouted and they found this train in like one or two days […] transferred the whole concept onto a train, which thankfully still worked, and I’m so glad it wasn’t on an airplane. I’m so glad we showed that train. It could not have been better than this, but it’s funny how it came about!”

Nemo is very humble about being so high in the odds, and when we asked them where in Switzerland would make a good spot to host Eurovision 2025 (if they win), Nemo only had one place in mind:

“I mean for me it would be the biggest dream to host it in my hometown in Biel. I don’t know if it’s possible, it’s a pretty small town, but hey, there’s a new hotel in Biel that just opened up, I saw. At least some of the delegations could sleep there. We have a lake, it’s a great city. We just have to build a stadium. I don’t know if that’s possible in less than a year, but who knows maybe maybe Biel makes it happen!”

Can you imagine what Nemo’s music video would have looked like on an airplane instead of this train?
