The next guest on the Building Bridges Podcast is Michael Ross from Electric Fields, who will represent Australia at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö with the song “One Milkali (One Blood)”.

Michael revealed the duo’s incredible journey, starting at their first performance together at Australia Decides 2019 with “2000 and Whatever” all the way to the selection process at SBS for Malmö 2024.

“All that we knew is that they asked if we would be interested and if we would like to throw a song or two in the ring. But it was a two or three month process between being tapped on the shoulder to the song actually being chosen […] When we did get the message that it was happening, I jumped up and down like a little maniac!

Furthermore, Michael gave us some insights behind the idea of the music video to “One Milkali (One Blood)”.

When I look at you two via Zoom, I see your face and your shoulders and that’s what we did. Our music video was us mirroring anybody. Anybody watching that video, we were literally mirroring your soul and a lot of people found it very confronting, which it is, because you’re looking at yourself.
