After a two-year absence, Montenegro is back – and with a new national final! Montesong replaces the old Montevizija, last used in 2019. Sixteen artists are vying to take Montenegro to its first Grand Final appearance in a decade!

We had the absolute pleasure to chat with Đurđa as she generously gave us some of her precious time in the days leading up her Montesong 2024 appearance.

In this episode, Sebi and Dave take a peek into Montenegro’s return to the Eurovision Song Contest, as they chat with one of the artists in the running to get Montenegro back to its first Grand Final since 2015 – it’s the lovely Đurđa from Kotor! She is one of the 16 artists competing in Montesong, and this marks her first Eurovision national final performance. After we politely asked her to pronounce her name for us, she went on to explain the meaning behind her song “To ljubav je”, and what we might expect from the live Montesong show on 27th November!

Đurđa’s entry for Montesong, To ljubav je, translates to ‘That’s love’, so we had to find out more about the meaning of her song:

“The song is about my life, about my two loves — one that is toxic, and one that I’m enjoying right now.”

— Đurđa Petrović-Poljak

When it comes to what Đurđa has planned for her Montesong staging, she was understandably hesitant to ruin the surprise, but she did give us some hints about what her staging will be like:

“We think about this performance that less is more. So you can imagine what we are preparing for you. So I really have a nice dress that will make me look like a Disney princess, more like a costume, not a ‘dress-dress’. I don’t have a dress like haute couture, it’s more like a theatre dress.”

— Đurđa Petrović-Poljak

We’ll have to wait until 20:00 CET on Wednesday 27th November to see exactly what Đurđa has planned for her three minutes on the Montesong stage in Podgorica.

Until then, be sure and check out the full interview with Đurđa (above) to learn more about the meaning behind her ballad To ljubav je, her favourite Eurovision song of all-time, and Đurđa’s big plans and dreams post-Montesong! The episode is available now wherever you get your favourite Eurovision podcasts!
