No, we’re not kidding…
In a TikTok clip that has gone viral, a group of grandmothers from the southern Italian city of Ostuni in Puglia have choreographed a dance to Tommy Cash’s controversial 2025 Eurovision entry Espresso macchiato — and Tommy has taken notice!
Michele Conenna, local weather man and head of the elderly association of Ostuni captured the dance and posted it to his social media accounts a few days ago. Since then, the clip has seen millions of views and thousands of comments across his accounts, but one comment stands out amongst the others:

In the days since its release on social media, the story has been picked up in the Italian media, featuring in numerous newspapers including La Repubblica and La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno.
Even Rai sent a reporter to Ostuni to capture the choreography for themselves and interview some of the “young ladies” as Conenna calls them, live for the program La vita in diretta on 12th March. As a group, they exclaimed “We are ready for Eurovision!”
Some Italians have taken offense to Tommy Cash’s song, pointing out it mocks several stereotypes about Italians, while others have even expressed the need to ban it from Eurovision altogether. However, Tommy insists this isn’t the case, and last week appeared on Italian television to perform Espresso macchiato and make the case for why he loves Italy. You can watch the clip below:
While Cash’s comment on TikTok is purely unofficial at the moment, should he choose the grandmothers from Ostuni, he may recreate a special moment on the Eurovision stage, reminiscent to Russia’s 2012 performance which saw Buranovskiye Babushki — a group of grandmothers from rural Russia — capture the hearts of many Eurofans. It’s a shame he can only take five of them!
